Worship Blogs – a round up of recent posts we liked

By Marie Page | February 28, 2009

There are several great worship blogs out there in cyberspace that can take a bit of tracking down. We’ve been connecting with a few via our Twitter feed.

Here’s a selection of recent posts on the worship blogosphere. If you find this post helpful and would like to see a regular round up then let us know. Feel free to add your favourite websites and blogs via the comment box.

  • This useful capo chord chart
  • Recommended worship songs for kids
  • The Talking Mirror- checkout this comedy spoof on writing a contemporary worship song http://thetalkingmirror.com/?p=1367
  • Our Rising Sound has a huge archive. Plenty of meaty articles like How to introduce click tracks to your band. Two that got me laughing were Sunday morning vocal warmups without an ipod and one where it looks like Musicademy might have competition from Pastor Anderson on the guitar teaching front. His church’s warm invitation states “Don’t expect anything contemporary or liberal.” Click through for his “strum-along-a-hymn-using-just-three-chords” guitar lesson.
  • Fred McKinnon – an extensive blog from this worship leader. I liked this post from the book The Divine Commodity:
  • “In the beginning the church was a fellowship of men and women centered on the living Christ. Then the Church moved to Greece, where it became a philosophy. Then it moved to Rome, where it became an institution. Next, it moved to Europe where it became a culture. And, finally it moved to America, where it became an enterprise.”

  • Fred also has a section on Sunday Setlists – view setlists from 100 worship leaders and post your own.
  • Theworshipcommunity.com on using loops in worship
  • Travis Penn on Welcome to the Worship Circus
  • Next Level Worship on How to develop your team to be ministers through music
  • An encouragement to reflect lots of styles in worship music
  • Worship.com has posts on pretty much everything worship related. It acts as a hub for a lot of bloggers such as Bob Kauflin on 10 reasons to share musical opinions humbly
  • Worshiptrench.com – I liked this post on playing with passion
  • Allaboutworship.com – 10 things on worship leading

Thanks for linking to our site. We appreciate the traffic and the twitterness, keep up what y’all are doing. We hope that you’ll come back to The Talking Mirror for more satire, both of Christian culture and of everything else… Because there’s so much we need to make fun of.
