Ask the Expert: The worship team want a contemporary keyboard. The pianist wants a wooden piano. Is a compromise possible?
This is a dilemma facing many churches as they move from organ and traditional piano accompaniment to more contemporary sounds. This is a great case study of how to handling the process of change whilst and keeping the traditionalists on board. Also some great suggestions for compromise solutions that should keep everyone happy.
Ask the Tech Expert: Best mic for recording (in a noisy room)
This is a two-part question. Firstly, what is the best mic for recording and secondly, is it possible to record in a room that isn’t properly soundproofed?
Another bridge please? Jumping around a song using backing tracks
Looping and skipping to new song sections using Worship Backing Band is easy using either hot keys or a simple pedal however not all songs are written with looping functionality in mind. Here we unpack what happens between song sections in real life and why that can mean lopping backing tracks produces a “ragged” sound.

Band Skills course: nearly ready
We’ve been planning a Band Skills course for years. It’s been the missing link in our wide portfolio of worship training but has been on of the most challenging to get right so that it’s truly accessible for the whole worship team. The good news is that it’s now only a few weeks away from being ready. We’ll launch it on our Subscription Site first (within the next few days) as a little early bonus for our subscribers there. In the meantime check out the description and pre order to ensure you get one of the first copies.
Way Back When: Andy as you’ve not seen him before
It’s been #WayBackWhen week on Facebook so we joined the fun digging out a couple of photos of Andy. Look how hard he is concentrating watching the guitarist play.
And if you enjoyed that, take a look at our album The Many Haircuts of Andy Chamberlain.
