DJ Skills Course

The DJ Skills course is designed to show complete beginners how to DJ through a structured program which includes the art of mixing and matching as well as scratching with different music genres with a professional touch, creating your own flare and style as a DJ.

  • The DJ artform and essential DJ gear
  • The history and background of DJ culture
  • Catching the beat
  • Scratching through the range of musical genres
  • The art of mixing
  • The musical structure of dance music
  • E.q.s
  • Performance - recording a mix and evaluating the piece for future improvement

Courses run on Mondays afternoon and evenings at Rickmansworth School. Additional courses will be rolled out subject to demand.

Louis Read teaches the DJ Skills course. As DJ D’face, Louis has performed at national and international venues including the Brixton and Hammersmith Apollos, Glasgow’s SECC, Sweden’s Frizon Music Festival and in Toronto (Canada). Louis has been teaching for several years including work with charity NGM touring UK schools and youth clubs teaching DJ skills, breakdancing and basketball.
