Keyboards

For 2007 we are transferring all our piano and keyboards teaching to one to one lessons. These will be held at the tutors' home (Tim Martin in Maple Cross).

Prices are £ 15 for a half hour, £23 for 45 mins and £28 for an hour.

Beginners

Learn to read music and understand theory the easy way whilst playing well known songs. Play melodies, chords and patterns which can be adapted for a wide variety of songs and playing situations. We use a variety of material, chosen to suit the student - classical, pop, musical theatre and more.

Intermediates

Learn whatever style you would like from rock and pop to classical, jazz, worship or blues. Move from alassical tocontemporary sounds using the “ear training by chords” method. Understand your role as part of a band. Effective use of different piano, organ, string and synth sounds. Improvisation skills.

Technical Development

Rhythms - Use of different rhythms in varying contexts Eg Syncoption, straight rock
Scales and Chords - 7ths Triads Jazz and Blues scales and chords. Learn which chords come up in which keys.
Aural training - Playing by ear
Keyboard as special effects - Exploring different sounds
Chord progressions - Linking one chord to another
Different chord "voicings" for smoother sounding playing
Chord patterns - (i iv v) (vi, ii, v, i) Cadences etc
