I would like to use your DVDs to help teach someone else
We’re really pleased that our DVDs are helping to unlock the musical potential of so many people across the world, however please note that purchasing a DVD licenses you to use them for your own personal use only. We are trying to re-invest the proceeds from the DVDs into new projects in order that we can train in a wider number of instruments and continually apply our techniques to the latest worship songs.
As such, we ask that you apply to us for a license to use the DVDs either as a church library resource or for teaching in groups. We will charge you a small fee but this can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
One of our aims is to set up mini Musicademys in all sorts of churches. We can supply teaching material and all the know-how and resources a church or individual needs to establish a local training school. Resources can be supplied on an individual basis or you can apply to purchase a full Musicademy franchise. GO to our Licence page and get in touch for further information.
Should I get the Beginners or the Intermediate DVDs?
Guitar DVDs
Beginners – this series is suitable for complete beginners and will take you to a stage where you can play confidently in a house group or small church setting. For existing players, volumes 2 and 3 are great for those who know a few basic chords and some strumming patterns but don’t yet play “power” chords, slash chords or chords further up the neck. Volume 3 also includes a complete guide to effective finger picking.
The Song Learner Series is designed for players who are working their way through the Beginners DVDs or who want to learn chords, strumming patterns and finger picking for a wider range of worship songs. They are a great way of expanding your repertoire and getting you a bit more experienced as a player before you move onto the Intermediate DVDs.
Intermediate - for existing acoustic or electric players who are comfortable with basic chords, bar chords and able to play along in time with most worship songs. You do not need to know how to read music or have any prior knowledge of music theory or electric guitar techniques to access this series. This is all covered in an easily accessible style in all three volumes. This DVD will help those who have reached a threshold in their playing and what to develop new techniques as well as learning to play by ear.
If you are unsure of whether you are at intermediate level yet, we would suggest you start with Beginners volume 2 or 3.
Vocals
The vocals DVDs are aimed at both beginner and accomplished singers. Even if you have had some singing teaching before you should find plenty of new learning on each volume.
Keyboards
Beginners volume 1 is for total beginners. Volumes 2 and 3 build on the basics introduced in volume 1. The Intermediate DVDs are for existing players - either contemporary players or those wanting to move form a classical “notes on the musical stave” approach to chords based playing.

What is the history of Musicademy?
Andy Chamberlain (who had been playing guitar professionally as well as teaching for several years) and Marie Page (a marketing consultant and trained teacher) set up Musicademy in 2003. Andy had an ever increasing waiting list for one to one tuition and felt that group tuition could work well and open the possibility of music learning to far more people. Andy was able to condense years of teaching and learning experience into our courses and Marie set about forming the necessary business systems as well as marketing and day to day administration.
That first term we had 5 courses and 40 students. Gradually we refined the guitar course content so that now we have structured beginners and intermediate courses covering a broad range of techniques and songs as well as specialist courses such as the electric guitar masterclass.
Gradually additional courses were added including vocals (now one of our most successful classes), bass guitar, drums and keyboards. Each course meets our usual quality standards and is structured around sequential learning objectives designed to get students playing and singing a broad range of songs whilst receiving a good grounding in musical theory and appreciation.
Musicademy serves both the church and local community. Courses are on offer in either worship or rock & pop music. We work in partnership with a number of local schools and churches.
We now have up to 50 classes running each term representing over 200 students and 20 or so tutors. We have expanded the places we teach in to include Watford, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood, High Wycombe, Guildford and London.
In 2005 we added worship guitar training DVDs to our repertoire which brought us new students from around the world. Worship vocals, keyboards, drum and bass DVDs are in the pipeline as are a selection of online downloads called The Musicademy Song Learner Series.
