Guitar Chord of the Month – Eadd9

The “Eadd9 ” Chord works to enrich a softly played E Major, with a surprising easy-on-the-ear cluster dischord of three notes in a row (E, F# and G#).
This first fingering is fairly well-known – and is a good start because it is easy to see how the basic E shape is modified to lift the root note to a 2nd.

However, for intermediate players the stretch is painful after only a short time.
This alternative is harder to understand (for those of us who don’t recognise notes so easily at the dusty end of the fretboard) but easier to play, and close to a few other “high-=position” chords which I’ll introduce later.
