We are very pleased to let you know that we will be at the Refresh Worship Conference in Lynchburg, Virginia from 22-24 September.
This national retreat has been designed to bring spiritual “refreshment” to those who are in the trenches of local church ministry. The conference is a partnership between Kingsway Worship, LifeWay Worship, Liberty University, and Thomas Road Baptist Church.
This unprecedented event looks at the practical mechanics of corporate worship and beyond, to get a fresh glimpse of the transcendent glory of our God. To this end, attendees will be digging into the musical heritage of the church—loaded with theological content and poetic excellence—as well as dabbling in the future by introduction to new songs that have the potential to become the hymns of tomorrow. These new hymns will be part of a live recording to take place at the event.
With worship leaders Stuart Townend, Aaron Keyes, Chris McLarney, Miriam Webster and Kelly Minter and speakers including Mike Pilavachi (Soul Survivor) and Mike Harland, the conference looks set to both inspire and indeed refresh you.
As well as a booth in the marketplace area, Musicademy will be running a number of seminars as follows:
Licks, tricks and cheats for the acoustic guitarist: ‘Cheat’ chords in open keys, acoustic tricks, capo positioning, alternative chord voicings, licks ‘in the style of’ James Taylor and John Martyn – ideal for extending the skills of acoustic playing worship leaders who play everything with the same old chord shapes.
Learn to play by ear: When you hear a new song do you wish you could just play the right chords in by ear, without the music in front of you? In this session we go through a simple three step formula that will help you work out the right chords for any song in any key. Bring a pen and paper and guitars if you have them. The session is demonstrated on guitar but suitable for all musicians.
How to construct strumming patterns: Ideal for people who end up going back to the same old couple of familiar strumming patterns. In this session you will learn about constructing 8 and 16th note patterns, how to listen out for them in a song and how to find the right pattern with or without a drummer.
50 tips to improve your worship band: This ‘top tips’ style seminar will give you a range of practical ideas to help develop the musicianship of your whole worship team.
