MultiTrack multi-user licenses – how much are you prepared to pay?

Worship-Backing-Band-MultiTrack-Player

We’ve had a number of requests for Multi-user licenses for our new MultiTrack player. This would mean different people in the same church accessing the same songs and MultiTrack player on multiple computers via a single church login account. We’d love to ask you what you feel is a fair price to pay for the average church who wants, say 3, 8, 15 or more legal copies of the Player and each song.

Now please bear in mind that we have royalties to pay for each user / download of each song and obviously a considerable amount of development costs to try to recoup. So we can’t just offer huge discounts!

If we worked on a sliding scale of something like:
3 users – 10% discount (so the player is then £18/$18 rather than £20/$20 and the songs are £4.94/$6.74 instead of £5.49/$7.49)
8 users – 20% discount (so the player is then £12/$12 rather than £16/$16 and the songs are £4.39/$5.99 instead of £5.49/$7.49)
15+ users – 40% discount (so the player is then £12/$12 rather than £20/$20 and the songs are £3.29/$4.49 instead of £5.49/$7.49)

How would that work out for you?

How many of you think you actually would want multi user access and how many users? Is it just the worship leader and pastor or would you want a license for everyone on the team (because it could be a great song learning tool for helping musicians to learn their parts)?

Please comment in the box below. Thanks

We would use no more than 2, and probably only 1. Would it be possible to change the key? That would be a nice feature, as well as possibly the tempo.

The cost of the player is not the issue for our church it is the cost per track that out prices this for us. I would prefer to pay more for the player and then see the setup more in line with the cost of downloading mp3 files from iTunes.

  • Andy Chamberlain

    Hi Pete
The reason we make the player very inexpensive is that it allows most churches to get going with the system very cheaply and build their song catalogue week by week as per needs and finances. The MultiTrack songs are a much more complex format than just mp3’s and possess a much higher degree of functionality. The format is unique too, allowing you to download multitrack songs in a signle file ( not an easy thing to do) so comparing it to itunes or an mp3 is not really like for like. Also these tracks were specially developed and adapted for congregational worship which to be honest is a small niche area in comparison to say itunes. We have strived to make these as cheap as we can, if fact some other church multitrack systems charge $49 for a single song but bringing them down that pricing level would simply not allow us to develop a product like this and make it commerically viable. That said, with our multi buy prices does make it very affordable. An average church uses around 75 songs per year inc. hymns. if 50 of those are our multitracks that works out to less than £5 or $8 per week over one year and so much less if you work it out over a 3 year investment. i.e. much less than most churches spend on tea and coffee.

If you are looking for a cheaper solution dont forget our original worship backing band DVDs. In the musicans version you can take out 1 instrument per song. Its nearly not as flexble as the software (and most customers seemed to want the flexibility) but at around £30 for 54 tracks its less than 60pence per song! And you get auotmated chords and words on screen!!

I was impressed with this player and I have already improved my playing of the songs I have downloaded, But I have not yet been able to use it at church because I was at home when I purchased the player and never realised I could only download and install it on the pc I was on. I was hoping to try it out at home and put it on a pc to use at the church so being able to put it on more than one pc would be great.
I would be prepared to pay extra for multi licence packs but would have thought that when purchasing the player it could be put on two pc’s not just one I have some software I use to record and that allows you to put it on two pcs only with a licence key. If yours allowed two downloads instead of just one it would be more practical as it is most of my practice is done at home before I go to church practice saving time at church.
The price of the songs I thought was a bit steep at first but soon realised they are not just mp3’s and understand why they cost so much and I agree that over time the song catalogue will build up

Do take a look at how commercial software vendor – they usually give a sizable discount or very special pricing for Education. You can do so likewise for religious use. For example, Microsoft offers a huge discount for Schools. Ringdale, Inc or YSoft, LLC offers very special pricing for Academic organizations.
