Bespoke live training for your worship team

Bespoke live training for your worship team

Book the Musicademy team for a day of worship training at your church

From now through to Christmas, we have a limited number of dates available for bespoke worship team training. This means the Musicademy team can come to your church and deliver a day of training for your team.

Whilst we are hoping to have a number of “public” days where anyone can buy tickets (at the moment possible venues are Aldershot, Woking, Bath, Romford, Esher, Peterborough and Staines – we are talking to churches in those areas and will chose probably 3 venues from that list), we are also available for more bespoke training working very much hands-on with your worship team.

There is a cost for this bespoke service. Prices depend on how many trainers you have and where you are based. And whilst we are happy to train outside the UK it may work out a tad over budget! If you are interested, please just get in touch and we can give you a proper quote.

What’s on offer in the bespoke days?

Most churches opt for just one or two trainers at a time, although we have taken a team of six to these events in the past. Typically the trainers are a multi-instrumentalist who works with the band and also a vocals coach who works with the singers. There are a wide range of workshops that we can deliver and normally we work up a day of content tailored exclusively to the needs of your team. Ideas include:

  • Singing basics – breathing, warm-ups, improving tone, range and power
  • Harmony skills
  • Choir skills
  • Practical worship leading
  • Band skills – it’s very easy to spend an entire day working on band dynamics and improving the musicianship of the whole team
  • Tips and techniques for guitar, bass, keys, drums, orchestral instruments
  • Playing by ear and improvisation
  • Lots more detailed information on seminar choices here

Why do we suddenly have some time for these days?

We’ve recently added a new vocals coach to our team, Philly Lopez. Philly is a session singer and vocal coach from London. Having worked in the secular music industry working with Matt Goss, Muse, Take That and Stevie Wonder, Philly has always remained rooted into church and worship music. As well as singing backing vocals at Soul Survivor, New Wine and Spring Harvest Philly was worship pastor at St Michaels, Chester Square for 5 years and loved investing in a small community church in central London. Now a fully freelance musician, Philly attends HTB and enjoys serving on the worship team there with Worship Central.

Additionally, Tim Martin, our all singing, all playing (don’t ask him to dance) multi-instrumentalist who presents our Keys, Orchestral and Playing By Ear DVDs is in the process of leaving his full time Music Minister position to pursue other work – some of that will be an increased workload with Musicademy.

And of course, Musicademy co-founder, Andy Chamberlain is always up for a day of practical training away from the rigours of recording backing tracks and filming DVDs.
