{"id":10688,"date":"2013-09-10T07:26:28","date_gmt":"2013-09-10T07:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicademy.com\/?p=10688"},"modified":"2019-07-24T15:44:24","modified_gmt":"2019-07-24T15:44:24","slug":"transitioningworship-educate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicademy.com\/blog\/transitioningworship-educate\/","title":{"rendered":"Transitioning \u2013 Part 9 \u2013 Educate, Inform, Do It Constantly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As East City Church transitions its worship service to a unified style of worship (see links below for the previous parts in this &#8220;documentary&#8221;), they will need to help their congregation understand why the church is going through a change in its time of corporate worship.\u00a0Conflict results most times in an absence of understanding why the church is experiencing change. It is imperative that members are aware of the biblical, missional, sociological, and other reasons that change is occurring.\u00a0It is also important that the church be continually exposed to the fact that worship change is coming and <em>why<\/em> throughout the weeks leading up to the target date of the new service. I have several suggestions that will help guide ECC in this endeavor:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Hold and publicize a Worship Summit <\/strong><\/span>that would dig deep into worship issues mentioned above<strong>,<\/strong> bringing the whole congregation together to discuss the important issues related to corporate worship.\u00a0 This could be done in a series of assembling the church together during the Bible study hour, if applicable. It could be a special Sunday afternoon or Saturday event. Publicize the event weeks ahead encouraging all to attend.<\/li>\n<li>Utilize the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>monthly newsletter<\/strong><\/span> to inform on what is coming and why ECC is making the change. Feel free to use the Biblical Recorder Renewing Worship\u00a0short pieces on Kenny&#8217;s website.<\/li>\n<li>Include weekly information in the <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">bulletin<\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Provide a link to a <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>web page<\/strong><\/span> with information laying out the plan, supporting articles, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Use the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Worship Leadership Team<\/strong><\/span> to devise creative ways to help with education. Consider utilizing impacting drama or video to help inform the congregation.<\/li>\n<li>Take advantage of the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>choir retreat and worship leadership team retreats<\/strong><\/span> to fully educate those groups.<\/li>\n<li>Consider <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>utilizing Bible study material<\/strong><\/span> on worship in small groups\/Sunday School. This could be directly tied to the next point.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Preach a series on worship<\/strong><\/span>. So often, our congregations do not understand what worship is. Helping them with this understanding before the launch date will greatly help the transition.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Constantly remind<\/strong><\/span> people of where they are going and why. Speak about it every time the body gathers for worship.
