I attach it as an example that\u00a0could be used\u00a0for worship song notation.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;problem&#8221; (at least for me!!) is to combine several objectives in one format:<\/p>\n<p><strong>include all the words!<\/strong><br \/>\nshow the sections and arrangement (repeats, structure, )<\/p>\n<p><strong>show the chords &#8211; and when to play them<\/strong><br \/>\n(Issue: is each chord played for 1 bar, 2 bars, half a bar?)<br \/>\ncondense to 1 sheet for those learning the song OR the arrangement<\/p>\n<p><strong>condense to 1 column for those who know both<\/strong><br \/>\nEnd-To-End (i.e. no repeats) is better for adding roles in rehearsal<br \/>\ni.e. when to come in, when to go up or down, take solos,&#8230;<br \/>\navoid writing &amp; reading &#8220;real&#8221; music<br \/>\n(though I&#8217;d like one stave on which to write instrumental link phrases)<\/p>\n<p>This example of words and chords, is notated without &#8220;music&#8221; ..no bar lines or diagrams,<br \/>\nbut with the chords arranged as &#8220;one chord per bar&#8221; &#8212; &#8220;\/&#8221; for repeat bars reduces clutter.<\/p>\n<p>I think the key to simplicity is this&#8230;<br \/>\nThe leader knows the song (!?) so he does not need the timing of the words<br \/>\nThe musicians don&#8217;t need the timing of the words<br \/>\nThey just need the song structure and the chords for the sections<\/p>\n<p>BTW I used jazz-notation: &#8220;B-&#8221; instead of &#8220;Bm&#8221; to minimise the notation further.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Dad (Steve&#8217;s covers band) are doing a wedding tonight and I had to do a chart for a simple Van Morrison song.
