Our Bass Guitar song based lessons unpack a pro standard session bass part taken from our Worship Backing Band MultiTrack recordings. We break down the part, note-for-note and show you the techniques behind the note choice.

These parts are great for learning how to go beyond the root note with style and taste and understand the note choices great bass players use to build a bass part.

Once you’ve learned the part we build each play-through section into full-length bass part, together with the backing track that you can play from beginning to end.

The difficulty level is highlighted within each lesson and broadly goes from Beginner-Plus to Intermediate-Plus. This means you’ll be able to play each part if you follow the lesson closely but will have much more understanding of the notes, scales and techniques behind the part if you’ve worked through the Musicademy Beginner and Intermediate Bass courses.

Each of our Song Based Lessons comes with a free No Lyric Chord Chart to help you while you learn the song.

If you would prefer you can also purchase the full version of the EveryKey Chord Chart.

The missing link between chord charts and lead sheets, all for non music readers!

12 PDF chord charts per song, one for every key (+ a Nashville Numbers chart)

Chords and lyrics arranged across 4 bar sections, under beat counts

Clear, easy-to-follow segmented song sections

A suggested song structure (Int, V1, Ch 1, V2, Bridge etc)

Structure precisely mirrors Worship Backing Band’s MultiTracks

Strumming pattern and 5 capo charts (G E D C A shapes) for guitarists

Web link to easy-to-play guitar chord diagrams for all open capo keys (G E D C A)

(Due to licensing restrictions we are not permitted to provide full lyric chord charts free-of-charge.)

We will be adding a new Electric, Acoustic or Bass Guitar Song Based Lesson each week for the foreseeable future.

The Worship Bass Song Learner Series are generally suitable for people who have gone through the Beginner Bass Course. The tend to be simpler lessons than those in the Intermediate courses.

**Please note that at the moment we are experiencing technical difficulties with the Bass Song Learner Series and the videos are not playing correctly. We are working on this urgently and expect the problems to be resolved very quickly. Many apologies for any inconvenience caused .**

A series of 20-30 minute bass guitar lessons teaching you an exclusive new bass part to a well known worship song. Bass tutor, Matt Weeks guides you through the song in a step by step manner and is joined at the end of the lesson by guitarist Andy Chamberlain so you can put all your worship bass instruction together in a play through of the song.

And of course once you’ve learnt the licks, tricks and techniques to that song you can then apply the techniques to other worship songs too.

Do also check out the Worship Bass Collection for more song based lessons on bass.

A very simple chord chart is provided for each song (we are not allowed to provide more complex charts free of charge due to licensing restrictions). If you would like to purchase a more complex chart, including lyrics and more please go to http://www.worshipbackingband.com/uk/index.php/chord-charts where we have a wide selection.

Improve your licks, tricks and chops by learning pro session bass parts to 20 worship songs. Presented by Matt Weeks, who teaches you how a session player approaches a song whilst remaining creative and tasteful.

20 bass guitar lessons teaching you how a session player approaches a song whilst remaining creative and tasteful. Learn Matt Weeks’ session bass parts and radically enlarge your vocabulary of bass licks, tricks and chops.

Each lesson lasts an average of 25 minutes and breaks down every technique into bite sized portions, all played through slowly and then built back up to speed again. Finally every lesson goes through a full song play through at the end so you can master every note at full speed. For 4 and 5 string basses.

Who is it for?

Existing bass players who want to improve their playing in the context of learning worship songs. These are not beginners lessons. Some sit between Beginners and Intermediate in terms of difficulty, others move towards the Advanced level. But even if you can’t manage all the techniques in a lesson, there will be plenty of other learning for you.
