Musicademy worship training days: being a host church

Each year Musicademy runs a small number of worship training days in churches across England (we’d love to go further but travel time and costs make that quite tricky).

Of course this can’t happen without a venue so we are very grateful for host churches willing to let us use their lovely buildings on a Saturday. By way of thanks we provide free tickets for their worship team.

The content of the days tends to change from venue to venue in order that we always have something fresh for repeat visitors. Normally sessions will include band skills, worship leading, guitar, bass, keys masterclasses plus separate streams for vocals and PA training. We have also worked with special guests such as Graham Kendrick and Sue Rinaldi for additional input which is always well received.

For 2016 and 2017 we are looking for host churches in the following areas:

• Bristol/Bath
• Birmingham
• Manchester
• London
• Peterborough
• Norwich

We are open to coming to other areas if you feel there would be good demand and you could help us with local marketing. Our mailing list is strongest in the South East so it is important that our hosts can help us get buy-in from their other local churches, the Diocese etc etc.

What we look for in a host church is as follows:

• Large sanctuary space that can seat at least 100.
• Reasonable PA system in the main sanctuary (and volunteer to help run this) and projector
• Secondary large space for vocals stream ideally with space for 50 or so
• Other break-out rooms ideally 2 or 3 rooms that can seat from 20 to 40 people
• Parking or very good public transport
• Coffee for delegates and a handful of volunteers to help with things like registration
• Good links with other local churches and willingness to help us get the word out to them about tickets
