A huge NINETEEN guitar lessons on three DVDs at a great price teaching contemporary worship songs which enable you to master new strumming patterns, find easy shapes for complex sounding chords, cheats for quick chord changes, plus hints, tips and techniques which will further your playing beyond learning the song itself.

Each of the three DVDs has approx 2 hours running time

Who is it for?

Suitable for any acoustic worship guitarist who wants to learn more chords, strumming patterns and finger style techniques.

Also acoustic guitarists beyond the beginner stage but perhaps not yet ready for the Intermediate DVDs. Also great for guitarists who want to learn some neat tricks and techniques from a variety of well known worship songs that you can then incorporate into your playing. The Song Learner Series sits between Beginners and Intermediate in terms of ability and is taught on acoustic guitar.

Each lesson is so much more than a quick run through of how to play the song. As experienced educators, we at Musicademy realise that many students need to have the information broken down, repeated slowly and then consolidated in the context of a song. The DVDs demo every song section and play it through a few times before each element is bolted together step-by-step. Using this method helps you get each sequence into muscle memory as quickly as possible.

A free downloadable resource sheet is available in the members area for each song. These contain chord charts, chord shapes and strumming patterns.

What is the difference between Musicademy's three Intermediate Guitar DVDs?

Here is a detailed article describing the differences between the three Intermediate Worship Guitar DVDs.

What else is available to help me practice?

We have a DVD called Worship Backing Band - Musicians Practice Tracks which contains 54 worship songs that you can play along with. Practice is a lot more fun with other people! You can select to take the vocals out of the mix so you are effectively the singer with a pro band. Its like high quality worship karaoke. The DVD shows on-screen words and chords so if you play an instrument you can also play along as you sing.

Will the DVDs work on my DVD player?

The DVDs are NTSC and coded Region 0 which means they will play anywhere in the world.

Can I get a refund if I don't like the DVDs?

Yes, you are also covered by our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee if having received the DVDs you do not feel they are right for you.

Andy makes it easy | Review by Maenon

Truly, can't appreciate Andy enough for breaking down those popular worship songs into parts that are so easy to follow and so playable. Some of these songs have rather simple chords in them but no matter how much I used to try to play them I could never get them sounding quite like the way the songs sound on the CDs, with the strumming patterns and "cheats" I'm finally beginning "get it" and starting to like the sound I'm making, even my wife who used to say "that's noisy" is beginning to say, "hhmm, that actually sounds nice"!

Extremely Helpful for my brother! | Review by KR

Song Learner Guitar Combo has been very helpful in getting my brother to play guitar effectively. He has been wanting to play for a while now, but I've been unable to give him personal lessons, given that I am away at college. Song Learner Guitar Combo stepped in exactly how I needed it to. My brother's guitar playing has transformed! It was so helpful to him because he got to see how recording artists would play songs. He is extremely excited now! He has even been able to play in our church's worship team, which has been a goal of his for a long time. Thank you very much!

Lesson content pitched at the right level | Review by Ma Kai (in Taiwan)

I have only sampled a few songs from the first of your three DVD Song Learner series,so I still have along way to go. However, I do find the lesson content and ease of instruction to be pitched at just the right level for beginners (like me) who might know some of the basics, but are not yet ready to tackle worship guitar at the intermediate level. That said, there is still enough to 'challenge' the more advanced (beginner) guitarist - especially in the area of strumming patterns and getting the right 'groove' for each song.

Andy's instruction is also very helpful. I really like the way he breaks down the strumming patterns and song segments into teachable chunks before putting the whole thing together. Overall, a great product ... I'm glad I purchased it.

I really enjoyed this series. I was able to learn songs I was familiar with and others I have never heard. You not only learn the chords, but how to please them easier. It is also nice that they go over the strumming pattern as well. Kudos for a great product!!

I have gone through 2 out of the 3 CDs. Very clear practical teaching by Andy. The pace is easy to follow and I have been encouraged by several useful tips as I go through each song. One of the best bits about this resource is the use of tabs that allow smooth chord changing which also enhances the musical quality of my strumming. This resource is definitely a blessing. My hope is that Andy will continue to produce similar type teaching resource especially on the many new worship songs coming from Hillsongs. Thank you for putting all this together. Please keep up this excellent work.

Now my strumming won't sound the same for every song! | Review by Craig

I downloaded a few of these lessons to try them out. For me, the main appeal is the opportunity to learn different strum or fingerpicking patterns for songs we actually use in worship, since I tend to get in a rut with my playing. I look forward to seeing the library of available songs grow. Thanks for all the resources you produce!

The Song Learners were great for learning how the recording artist actually played the song. Andy does a good job of verbally describing how to play the different parts, and the camera angles show it clearly as well. The free dowloads of the chord sheets are helpful, but not necessary, to follow the lesson. And being able to download specific songs is very convenient.

This release from the folks at Musicademy is designed to complement the courses for beginner and intermediate guitarists that were issued on DVD by the Chorleywood-based music college in 2006. In a very clear introduction, guitar tutor Andy Chamberlain sets out the DVD's goals and explains that the tutorials contained within are for guitar players who have learnt to strum and play chords but now want to play worship songs that integrate their new found skills. What follows are six separate tutorials lasting roughly 20 minutes each which give valuable lessons on strumming patterns, chord cheats and finger picking amongst other subjects via a variety of contemporary worship songs. Accompanied solely by his acoustic guitar, Chamberlain is a patient and considered tutor and his careful dissection of each song demystifies what on the surface may appear to be complicated chords and styles for the novice guitarist. Throughout, different songs are used to teach a range of techniques and this provides a welcome diversity to the proceedings. For example, Stuart Townend's "How Deep The Father's Love For Us" is a refresher lesson on finger picking whilst "Lord Let Your Glory Fall" by Matt Redman delves into the concept of compound time signatures. Elsewhere, Chris Tomlin's "The Wonderful Cross" gives tips on drop D tuning and the David Crowder arrangement of "All Creatures Of Our God And King" is used as an example of the effectiveness of riffs in worship songs. With the absence of guest slots, backing tracks and the like, this is certainly a more stripped down and simple affair in comparison to the full courses on offer. Nonetheless, this release is a cost effective and worthwhile tool for budding worship guitarists.
